Hello children! Do you have LEGOs at home? And have you ever wondered how they came to be? Let me tell you a story:
Once upon a time, in Denmark in the early 1900s, there was a carpenter named Ole Kirk Christiansen. He loved making wooden toys and household items. In 1932, he started a small company and called it LEGO! The name LEGO comes from the Danish words “leg godt,” which means “play well.”
At first, LEGO made toys out of wood, but in 1947, they bought a fancy machine that could make toys out of plastic. That’s when they made their first plastic interlocking bricks in 1949. But wait, those early bricks weren’t exactly like the ones we have now. They were a bit different, but they were the start of something amazing!
In 1958, LEGO came up with the design for the modern LEGO brick that we all know and love. It had those little bumps and tubes that let you connect the bricks together in so many cool ways. They even got a patent for it! LEGO bricks became super popular and one of the most famous toys ever.
As time went on, LEGO started making sets with themes. They had towns, airports, and even outer space adventures! In the 1960s, they made DUPLO, which are bigger bricks for little hands. And oh boy, the 1970s and 1980s brought us LEGO Space, LEGO Castle, and LEGO Technic – all kinds of exciting things to build!

In the 1990s, LEGO faced some challenges, but they turned things around. They came up with even cooler ideas, like teaming up with Star Wars in 1999! That was a big hit. LEGO kept growing and making new friends in the toy world.
Now, in the 2000s and beyond, LEGO is still making amazing sets. LEGO is a worldwide favorite, and everyone loves using their imagination to build awesome things with those fun bricks. And that’s the story of how LEGO became the most fun and creative toy in the whole wide world!
