Five Bean Soup in a Jar Recipe

This recipe comes from Cassie from Wholefully whose beautiful bean layout feeds your eyes before you even get to cooking. [Her five bean soup mix is the fourth one on her list on this page.] If you choose to use her recipe, please make sure you purchase wide-mouth jars; it is so much easier to fill them up and arrange the layers. Cassie also offers free printable lables you can add to your gift.

After we made this five bean soup a couple of times, we decided to change the combination of spices to better fit our family taste and also added some ham to the soup for richer flavor. Following is our preferance:

  • 1 tsp minced onions
  • 1 tsp minced garlic
  • 1 tsp oregano
  • 1 tsp rosemary
  • 1 ½ tsp parsley
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 buillon cube
