The good news is there are many excellent curricula available on the market. Even though making the “perfect” choice may seem rather complicated, it really is not the case. In addition to some of the basics, I always encourage families to do their own curriculum research. Read the reviews of various curricula by other homeschool families. Pay attention to why they liked a particular curriculum, what they didn’t like about it and how similar the people writing the review are to you and your family. Can you identify with their homeschooling style? The more the reviewer seems to be like you and your family, the more probable it is that you will enjoy the same curriculum.
