Originally, this lesson was taught in a coop setting and we had much fun with it. Even days, and in some cases weeks, after the class, the children would send us pictures of their creations! However, it is also possible to teach it in a one-family setting.
What will the children learn and do?
- They will understand 4 basic types of angles by forming these using their own arms and legs and identifying them in pictures as well as objects around them.
- They will learn that angles are used not only in mathematics but also at play. When the children go to play miniature golf, the ball bounces of the sides of the field in precise angles in order to get to the hole.
- They will discover that many famous artists use angles to express their ideas and identify the angles in paintings and sculptures.
- They will make their own art using a geoboard.
